I've been on the job hunt since June and it feels like I'm getting nowhere. I had one decent shot with a Cloud Developer position at Google, but after the first interview, I never heard back from the recruiter. It's been nothing but rejection emails ever since. I've rewritten my resume countless times, and I'm convinced it's solid. But obviously, something isn't working. Can anyone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? Is it possible I'm aiming too high? I know the job market in Canada is tough right now, but I was hoping for at least some response!

Your resume layout seems fine, but keep it concise. I usually keep mine to one page and fill it with relevant keywords to help it pass through automated filters. Are you targeting specific platform roles?
A lot of resumes are now filtered through AI systems. I recommend trying to get feedback from an AI tool; link your resume with the job description for a critique. Some people even use hidden white text to sneak in keywords that help beat the filters!
Have you thought about customizing your resume for each job you apply to? Sometimes, a general resume misses the mark. Try to incorporate keywords and achievements from the job description. Also, don’t forget to polish your LinkedIn profile to match your resume! Networking is crucial right now; attending meetups or engaging in online communities could lead to opportunities, too.
Yeah, I’m realizing that! It's just a lot of work when I’m sending out tons of applications.
Looks like your resume's highlighting your rapid promotions, but this might raise eyebrows. Senior DevOps roles typically require a few years of specific experience, and jumping from basic IT to Senior in just four years could be seen as a red flag for some employers. It might help to emphasize the skills and specific experiences you gained during those roles instead of just the titles.
I totally get that! Progression is great but sometimes employers get skeptical about accelerated titles. They want to see solid experience behind it.
Exactly! When hiring, I generally focus on relevant experience first rather than just job titles.
I’m struggling too since June in the US. It’s just a rough market out here.
I mainly focus on GCP and AWS, with GCP being my stronger area.
