I tried connecting my Samsung A25 to my desktop via USB to transfer a few files, but instead of a straightforward process, I ended up troubleshooting for half an hour. I found that while I could transfer images, general file transfers were a mess. I followed all the common advice: turning on debug mode, swapping cables, and rebooting both devices. Ultimately, it appears that using third-party software over Wi-Fi might be the recommended approach. Why has this become the norm?

You should be able to transfer any file type via USB, so I'm not sure what's going on. Are you using the right connection mode? Samsung offers an option for "transfer images and videos," which limits the files you see in file explorer. It's possible that if you select the wrong mode, you won't get access to everything you need.
What I do is set up an FTP server like FileZilla on my PC. Then I use Total Commander on my phone with a plugin to access my files. It sounds a bit complicated, but it's a reliable method if you're running into issues with USB transfers.
I haven't faced this problem! Usually, I just enable debug mode, connect my phone, type in my PIN to confirm it's me, and I'm good to go. Sure, it takes a moment to remember how to enable debug, but once it's set, transferring files takes seconds.
