Will a 550W PSU be sufficient for my RTX 5060 setup?

I'm planning to build a gaming rig that includes an R5 5500 CPU, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and an RTX 5060 GPU. The 550W power supply is bronze-rated. Since the 5060 is priced close to the 4060, I decided on it, but I'm curious if a 550W PSU will be enough for my setup. Also, I have a 24-inch AOC Gaming monitor with a 180Hz refresh rate, FHD, fast IPS, and a 0.5ms response time (Model: 24G11E). What do you think of my overall build?

Your R5 5500 has a TDP of only 65W, and with the 5060 at 145W, plus about 20W for the motherboard and other parts, you're set. You could even get by with a 350W PSU and still be safe, so no worries! 😂

That's great news! I was worried I might need to upgrade my PSU.

A good rule of thumb is to add the wattage of your CPU and GPU, then multiply by 1.5 for a solid minimum. You could technically go lower, but I wouldn't recommend it for stability.

You're in the clear! The RTX 5060 draws a maximum of about 145W, and the R5 5500 runs at 110W. Adding the rest of your components, you still have around a 200W buffer, so your 550W PSU should handle everything just fine.

If you're considering upgrades, look into the 5600 instead of the 5500. Your 550W PSU is more than enough for that too. Just a thought!

I looked for the 5600, but it's out of stock everywhere.
