I'm about to start my studies in cybersecurity, and I have a bit of experience with Linux from my computer science background—mainly using Ubuntu and Debian. I'm curious about which Linux distributions would be best for someone new to the cybersecurity field. I'm aware that Kali Linux is quite popular, but honestly, it seems like overkill and kind of a cliché. Are there better options out there for beginners?

You'll find that no cybersecurity professional actually uses Kali as their daily OS. Debian and Ubuntu are solid choices, and when you step into the industry, you’ll encounter RHEL, Ubuntu, or SuSE Enterprise, mostly. So, pick whichever you feel most comfortable with—there’s not much of a difference besides package management, and that’s easy to pick up if you need to switch it up later.
Makes sense! Do you have any recommendations for a distro that's good on battery life? I’ve heard that Linux Mint or Arch could be good for that.
