How can I lower my computer’s overall system volume?

Hey everyone! I have really sensitive ears, and I find that my system volume is usually set between 20 and 30, which can be pretty loud. I'm using a PCPanel Pro to manage audio for different applications, but my volume sliders are always very close to zero, making adjustments tricky. Is there a way to lower my overall system volume so I can keep the audio around 50 instead of it being so loud at 20?

What kind of device and operating system are you using? If you’re not against it, using some external speakers or a stereo system might help. You can control the volume better from there.

I actually do have external speakers and an amp! The only issue is that the headphone port on the amp is faulty, so I have to connect it to my mic instead.

If you're open to installing some extra software, you should check out EqualizerAPO along with the Peace GUI. They have a pre-amp slider that lets you lower all audio output through the software. There's a helpful guide on how to set it up too!

Thanks a ton! I totally meant to reinstall EqualizerAPO recently to explore the gain settings. This is super helpful!

Awesome, thanks! I completely forgot about EqualizerAPO and Peace. Can't wait to try it out!

Using third-party apps like Peace Equalizer along with EqualizerAPO lets you set a permanent negative pre-amp gain, which reduces all sounds by a set decibel level. It's pretty effective!

Thanks for the tip! I also got recommended EqualizerAPO and it really worked for me.
