Is it easy to create a website to check junkyard parts availability?

I'm considering starting a side business where I visit junkyards and retrieve parts for customers. There's a junkyard near me with a website that allows users to search for parts by entering their car's make and model, which shows if they have compatible parts in stock. I'm wondering if I could build a similar website where users can enter their car info, and I can either get notified if a part is available or inform them that it's not in stock. Additionally, is there a way to get alerts whenever the junkyard adds new cars to their site? Thanks for any help!

Building the website could be manageable, especially if you know how to code. The biggest challenge may arise from how the junkyard manages its data, such as their security measures or terms of service. If they allow public access to their data, web scraping might work, but make sure you check their terms first. Just a heads up—consult with a lawyer about the legal implications of monetizing their data since it could complicate things. Better safe than sorry!

I get your point about payments being cash and keeping things simple, but you still want to ensure you aren't creating any legal issues. As for notifications, look into web scraping tools or APIs that could help monitor the junkyard's inventory for updates. That way, you could notify customers efficiently. Just stay within any legal boundaries to keep things risk-free!
