Consider trying out Mumble Note or VoiceNotes for transcription as well.

We've been using a software called 4voice, which is tailored for medical terminology since we're in the hospital field. It works really well for us!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check it out. I’ve heard it uses Dragon as its engine.

Dragon is often recommended for transcribing, especially for those with disabilities in the UK. But don’t overlook the built-in solutions that your operating system provides, as they’ve improved significantly!

Thanks for the advice! We’re trying to avoid AI solutions if possible.

I can vouch for the dictation built into MacOS. It’s surprisingly great, and many people aren’t even aware of it. Plus, it offers live captions, which is a big plus!

Thanks for the insight! We're trying to steer clear of AI, though.

Seconding Dragon—it's the go-to for many in healthcare. It works superbly for transcription. And just a heads up, it’s been around long before the AI craze, despite their current marketing!

You can also try using M365 Microsoft Word. It has built-in dictation that’s free to use, and it works pretty well.

I've developed a software called Private Transcriber Pro. You just drag and drop your audio or video files, and it automatically transcribes them. You can save the output as .srt for subtitles or .txt for simple text files. It runs offline, keeping your data secure, and there's a one-time fee without any subscriptions. Plus, there’s a free demo to try!

This sounds a bit like an advertisement.

If you're using Microsoft Teams for your meetings, its transcription feature isn’t too bad! It even does a reasonable job with colloquial Scots, which is impressive.

Yeah, we've tried Teams, but it struggles a bit with the strong accents in our HR team.
