Need Help with My First PC Build for Gaming!

I'm new to building PCs and I'm looking for some advice on my first build. I'm excited to mix AMD and GeForce components but need your input since I'm not very familiar with AMD. My goal is to create a gaming rig that can handle high graphics settings for demanding games like Monster Hunter World. I don't want to go lower than a 5070 Ti if I switch to RTX. Here's what I have in mind for my build:

- **Case:** Cooler Master HAF XB EVO (the black square box style)
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (I'm sticking with this)
- **Motherboard:** Asus X870E-PLUS TUF GAMING WIFI7 AM5 DDR5 ATX (not sure if this is good or not)
- **GPU:** PNY OC GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 (may wait for the 5080 Super OC)
- **RAM:** (2x) Corsair Vengeance Black/Silver DDR5-6000, totaling 96GB (2x48GB)
- **Cooler:** ZXT Kraken Water 240mm (I can only fit 2 fans or 1)
- **Storage:** Samsung 990 Pro 4TB M.2 SSD PCIe 4.0 NVMe
- **Power Supply:** EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 G2 ATX 1600W 80+ Gold (might switch to the 1000W)
- **Fans:** Noctua fans (1x 120mm and 1x 200mm)

Additionally, my PC case has a storage holder with a 1TB drive and a CD player that I can remove if needed. Any thoughts or suggestions on what I should change?

Looks good overall, just make sure you're within your budget. If you have to cut costs, consider downgrading to a less expensive motherboard and investing more in your GPU. The 4TB NVMe is nice, but if you need to save some money, even 2TBs work fine for most games, allowing you to upgrade your GPU without overspending.

Great point! I think I might stick with 4TB for now, but I’ll keep that in mind if I need to make adjustments.

Your build looks solid, but you might want to reconsider a few things. For starters, 192GB of RAM is overkill for gaming; 32GB is usually sufficient. Also, that motherboard seems overpriced for what you need—maybe look at a B850 instead. As for the power supply, a 1600W is way more than necessary; you could get away with 850W comfortably. That way, you can potentially allocate some of those savings towards a better GPU like the RTX 5090.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely scale back on the RAM and power supply. Sounds like the B850 could save me some cash too!

I think you’re on the right track! As for your cooling, if you’re okay with noise, those fans are great. But if noise is an issue for you, there are quieter alternatives. I'd also definitely consider the 5090, as it'll give you longevity for gaming at high settings.

Noise isn’t a huge concern for me right now, but I appreciate the insight! I'll keep an eye on the 5090 for sure.
