Random Tabs Keep Opening in Google Chrome—What Can I Do?

I've been having a frustrating issue for the last couple of days where random blank tabs keep opening in Google Chrome. I initially thought it might be due to some malicious extension, so I removed all my extensions, but that didn't help. Then, I reset my Chrome settings, thinking that might fix the problem; unfortunately, it didn't. I even uninstalled Chrome entirely from my PC, but those annoying tabs still pop up. When I tried to reinstall Chrome, I ran into an 'update check error' with a little robot image. Despite the fact that I ran a computer scan and it didn't find any viruses, Chrome keeps opening tabs on its own. I'm at a loss for how to solve this and get Chrome to install properly again. Any advice?

Since your scans aren’t picking up anything, it seems like Chrome might be acting up. Try checking if there are any startup pages set in Chrome that could be causing this. Go to the settings and see if there's anything listed under 'On startup'. You might also want to clear your browsing data and see if that helps!

How can Chrome open pages even after I’ve uninstalled it? That’s so strange!
