Why won’t my computer detect my headphones after I unplug them?

I'm having a frustrating issue with my wired headphones. After restarting my PC, the system detects them just fine, but if I unplug them and then plug them back in, they aren't recognized anymore. I've already tried reinstalling the Realtek drivers and went through Device Manager to delete and restart the drivers. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem?

It might be worth checking if the headphone jack is dirty. Sometimes dust can cause connection issues. Also, do you mean the headphones aren’t detected at all, or is it just the computer not recognizing them again? How are your headphones connecting—are they using a 3.5mm jack or USB? If they’re a headset with a mic and speaker, make sure to clarify that too.

Have you checked the Sound settings in Control Panel after you plug the headphones back in? You might need to enable them and set them as your default device. Also, consider restarting the Windows Audio services. Just press the Windows key, type 'services', find 'Windows Audio', and hit restart. Beyond that, it sounds like you've covered the driver side of things.
