Are Docker Hub images really just plug-and-play?

I'm using Portainer to manage my Docker containers, and I'm trying to set up Home Assistant. I attempted to copy the startup configuration for Home Assistant, but I keep running into errors that don't seem to provide any useful information. It suggests that I might need to specify the var or bin location, but my setup is standard. I'm confused about why these images aren't working as expected.

It sounds like you might be missing some details. When you copy the Home Assistant configuration, make sure you're following any instructions that come with the Docker image. Sometimes it's not as simple as just copying and pasting the startup commands; there might be specific requirements or configurations you need to set up first.

No, Docker Hub images aren't just copy-paste. You really should read through the documentation for the specific image you're using, especially for something like Home Assistant. If there's no clear documentation, that's a red flag—those images might not be maintained well and could cause issues.

It's definitely not plug-and-play. Many images have specific notes or prerequisites that you have to consider. If there aren't any accompanying notes, you're likely just dealing with someone's old project. Always check for reliable documentation before diving in!
