I've been experiencing a strange issue where my computer seems to pick up sounds, specifically voices from YouTube videos or during Discord calls, even when my microphone is completely unplugged. It's almost like there's a ghost microphone because the audio I'm listening to in the background continues to be picked up. This problem intensifies when I increase the volume on my PC. I've tried different headsets, a USB sound card, both the rear and front audio jacks, disabling the 'listen to this device' option, uninstalling and reinstalling audio drivers, and using three different splitter cables, but nothing seems to work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as this is really frustrating!

For clarity on checking that setting, you might find it in your sound control panel or audio settings under recording options. If you’re using specific software for audio management, check the settings there too. Sometimes these settings aren't straightforward and can get buried within the software.
It sounds like you might want to check if the 'wave out' or 'wave mix' feature is enabled on your sound card settings. If this is active, it could be routing audio from playback into the recording input, making it seem like your PC is picking up sounds from nowhere. Depending on the sound card you have, it's not unusual for it to show microphone input even when nothing is connected, but that input shouldn't actually capture any sound without a mic in place. If you disable that feature, it might solve the issue!
